Have any of you been put on Clomid to help with late ovulation? Apparently ovulating late decreases the quality of the egg and uterine lining, and Clomid might help to make ovulation happen sooner? Let me know if this is the case... that way I can maybe have a little hope. Also, let me know what kind of side effects you get from Clomid-- I've heard horror stories, and I'm scared. I didn't manage the hormonal issues with birth control pills well-- I'm dreading doing Clomid stuff.

Thanks so much!

Hi Jes!!

I think Clomid is a great thing to try in conjunction with a trigger shot to help you ovulate earlier!

I heard horror stories about Clomid too and before I started taking it I warned all the people close to me that I might be moody -- and well -- the moodiness I had expected never came.. Just a little weepy here and there recently, but I just had an IUI...

I think everyone reacts differently -- maybe they can start you on a small dosage of 50mg to see how well you tolerate it. It's a hormone, so it stays in your body for awhile. I have also been told that if you use it successively (each month ) each month the s/e effects get worse and worse. But that is only one woman's experience that I know of.

I've had hot flashes which are completely tolerable -- and been a little emotional (but the emotional stuff started after my IUI and Ovidrel)

I took the clomid b/c I wasn't ovulating for almost a YEAR! When I went in for an ultrasound after taking the clomid -- I had nice mature follicles ready to release! I took an Ovidrel shot that day and I ovulated within 12 hours.

I hope it works for you!!!

I am on Clomid to help with late O. I took it last night for the first time. I hope it helps you! I am worried about the s/e too. I was super nervous. Today I feel ill, but I don't know how much of that is attributable to the Clomid.

Last month I was on 50 mg Clomid days 5-9 and it delayed my O to about cycle day 20. So, this month, doc put me on 100 mg days 5-9 and it really regulated things because I got a + OPK on cd 14 and think I O'd on cd 15. I think maybe 50 mg just wasn't strong enough for me.

Forgot to put my symptoms on earlier post. I was moody but pretty much same as PMS and got fairly bad headaches for about 3 days straight. When my dosage was increased this month I also got acne - not terrible but worse than usual. That kinda gave me hope that it's working.

Popping in ...

Second time user of Clomid here.

We got pregnant with the help of Clomid back in Jan 2009.
I took 2 rounds of it and had a healthy baby girl in October of 2009.

We are trying again for #2 and I started Clomid again this past Tuesday. Taking it on days 5 - 9.

So far ... the same as last time ... the headaches, but there are tollerable, and the bloated feeling.

Heres to much baby dancing and PFPs in your futures !

I took clomid for the 3rd time. O'd the first and third time. I took clomid on CD 3-7 and I took it on the 13th of this month. I tested positive with OPK on the 25th. So clomid has worked. It didnt make my O late. The first and second round were 50mg and this round was 100mg. BD to all!
