I recently had my third laparoscopy on October 8th. If you have experience with laparoscopy and know the answers to my questions, would someone please chime in? I'll be calling my doctor tomorrow just in case, but thought I'd ask here first. Hopefully someone reads this. Thanks!!

I had 3 incisions, one on my belly button, one in my pubic area, and one on my right hip. The one on my belly button and the one on my hip healed very quickly, and are almost completely healed actually. The belly button one had stitches, and the one on my hip had glue. The glue on that incision was pretty much flat and when it came off (my towel snagged it after a shower) the incision underneath it was sealed completely, and was flat and shut. I had my surgery on Friday and the glue came off on the following Wed.

The incision in my pubic area was also closed with glue and the glue didn't come off until today. It separated last week and layed open and looked a little red, so I kept a band aid with bacitracin on it b/c it freaked me out. Finally tonight the glue came off but the glue was into the incision really deep (over an 1/8 of an inch) and when it came out it left the incision open quite a bit and it looks nasty. Not red anymore, but still open.

Is that normal?? Should I do anything? Would putting steri-strips on it to keep it closed help it at all, or am I past that point? I'm putting a "blister" band aid on it right now to help keep it covered b/c regular band aids aren't working the greatest.

Sorry!

Also....I think the surgery kick started my period early, which started yesterday. I normally get really bad cramps, but today I'm having really sharp pain over/near the incision on my hip. I don't usually get "sharp" pains during my period, so it has me concerned. My husband just thinks it's b/c of the surgery, and having my first period so soon after it, it's still healing and what not...so it hurts b/c of that. It hurts when I laugh, when I bend over, and during certain other movements, but not all the time. Do you think my husband is right, or should I be more concerned? Again, I'm calling my doctor in the morning if it still hurts, but I thought I'd ask.

Thanks!!

I haven't had a lap, but it sounds like that one incision isn't healing properly... I would have it looked at by your DR.

I just had a lap in july to remove an ectopic pregnancy and my left tube. The incision they made by my pubic bone took the longest to heal. Mine had stitches in it though and two of the stitches came out within a few days, leaving it part way open. i just kept a bandaid over it and after a week or so it closed itself up. however, now a few months later, it did leave quite the scar. Dont know if this helps, but its always good to check with your doctor just to be sure everything is going right. Also Ive had very painful periods since that surgery as well. i think its part of your body adjusting and getting back to normal.
