I am on the same boat!! Hubby has low sperm count and I had a HSG in December and found out my left tube is completely blocked. Yes, the procedures was super painful, perhaps because of the blockage.

Our next step is to do an IUI starting in April (I want to lose a few lbs). Even though I have no problem ovulating, my dr. prescribed clomid to enhance the possibility of good follicles.

Since I can only get pregnant when my right ovary releases an egg to the right tube, I will need follicle ultrasounds and if the right tube shows that I will ovulate from that side, I will proceed with the IUI. If otherwise, I will skip that cycle and check for follicles during the next cycle. I will not do my first follicle scan until April.

In regards to knowing when I ovulate, I use ovulation predictor kits. I started off buying the clearblue OPK and they are very expensive. So after a whole year of TTC and many dollars spent in OPK I discovered that the dollar store brand OPK are just as effective. So know, I test with those and recommend.

With one tube blocked its recommended to stimulate with meds so you have a good chance of ovulating from the side that is not blocked so clomid is a good idea. and IUI raises your chance with the low count.
