I had a sonohystogram on Thursday, 12-13-06. I took 2 Advil prior to going but it didn't help much. When I got there, they explained the procedure but I had already looked it up so was familiar w/ what they were going to do. I was instructed to take all my clothes off (I was also getting a well woman exam). They had put puppy wee-wee pads down b/c the nurse said I would leak all the saline fluid out & it would get messy. So, first I got the pap. Then the dr told me that he was ready to put the catheder up through my cervix into my uterus. OUCH! I'm serious! I got to that nauseous point & then started breathing in & out, in & out to control it. Then it was time to shoot in the saline solution. Again, OUCH! Honestly, the pain after all was said & done, was manageable but it still hurt like heck!
When the saline went in, they started to check out my uterus. There was nothing wrong. Then they checked my fallopian tubes to make sure that the saline went out them. It did but that hurt a bit b/c they shot up more saline solution. Finally, it was time to check my ovaries & that is when they found way too many cysts. After counting them he took out the catheder. Of course, everything came out. Yep, disgusting! Seriously, I had to wear a pad afterwards & didn't feel like that was adequate. It is ok though, it was worth it in the end. We found out what was wrong & that really helps in moving on.
