It was effective for me, but painful! My nipples would be like 3 times there size when I was done, and it didn't really engage letdown that often for me, it just felt like it was sucking me dry. I picked this one over the Evenflo one (I bought it in 2003) because I read the reviews online (target) and everyone loved Isis and hated Evenflo. I gave it away last summer, so I have to get a new pump. Despite some bad reviews, I'm going to try the Gerber manual. I don't want something that sucks my breasts completely empty, I don't anticipate this baby taking a bottle (Trupie never did), so I'm mostly going to be using to relieve engorgment and make a small freezer stash for cereal when the time comes. My friend also got the Gerber too.

I have this one and love it, too. Although, like someone else said, I don't have anything to compare it to either. And it does make my nipples ginormous...

hated this pump, it was my only pump with my first son and it made things extrememly harder for us! and then i went to use it for engorgement one night after having my second son and it broke! the only things i ended up liking about the set were the bottles, the bag and the freezer packs, i STILL use the bag and freezer packs now 4 years later! but the pump sucked and im sad someone spent the money buying it for me

I have to say that the Avent ISIS Duo is really cool! The only downside is all of the parts that can be misplaced. I did my research before I made a purchase.
Good Luck!

I've had good luck so far with the Isis. I did have to take out the little silicone insert so the milk wouldn't run up under it, but once I did that it worked great. It sometimes takes a minute for letdown to occur, but once that happens it's fast and easy.
Now if I can just figure out how to make it stop making that squeaking noise....

I really like this pump!! I use it daily. It pumps really well for me, I always seem to get plenty of output fairly quickly. The only bad thing is the little round disk or valve thing that goes fits into the bottom of the pump doesn't really seem to fit all that well. It has a tendency to pop out on you. Overall this is a VERY nice and affordable pump. I'd reccomend it to anyone.
