I do. Todd & I don't share an account so he transfers a set amount of $ every month to my account so I can pay bills. We have chosen to do this for security reasons. He has NO CHECKS on purpose & does not use his debit card at all unless he is in a pinch. I pay the bills w/ the $ I get & put the rest in savings for our taxes at the end of the year.
I take care of our checking and basic savings accounts. DH does the investment accounts. I move money around between accounts all the time. DH rarely knows how much we have - if he did, he'd probably spend more!
We also have separate accounts. I've always talked about opening a joint account but we never got to doing it.
We pay our house loan together, 50/50. We also pay the groceries and Tristan's stuff together. I pay for my own celphone bill. The internet, electricity, insurance he pays. He has a higher salary than me.
By the way, this is quite surprising that a lot of us have separate accounts from our dh. I always thought that married couples normally have joint accounts.
As of today, we have separate accounts...but I asked DH to combine them for 60 days to see how we do together (he is already on my account, but he has never used it). We are supposed to take care of this tomorrow.
DH had been paying the mortgage and his truck payment since we bought our house in '04 and I did all the rest. At that time it was "equal" based off of what we each made at that time as well as what we budgeted for. Now that I'm not working as much, I'm making about the same as I did then...but my portion of the bills are way higher! We'll see how it goes!
Most people think DH and I are strange for having separate accounts. It's nice to see that so many other couples also have separate accounts.
