Is it normal to have decreasing milk at night....I pump around 10pm every night before bed and can only get about 3oz between both breasts where as the rest of the day I can get 5oz. I pump 3 hours apart all day long as well but then when I wake to pump around 3 or 4am I'll get between 6 and 8oz then after that starts my 5oz all day until my 10pm pumping...
hey ... it is normal for milk supply to chanage during the day. Personally I found that my highest pump of the day was the first one at work, the next was slightly less and the third the least. It's also why "we" usually suggest to ladies who are BF'ing but want to build a stash for returning to milk, that they pump after their first feed of the morning.
i believe that it is to do with prolactin levels being higher at night / early morning. There's a little bit about it on this page of kellymom
