How often do you ladies pump at work? I am trying to establish a good routine during my 12hour shifts and really don't want to mess up my supply. I only work 2 days a week but during a pay period I work a Saturday and Sunday. How long do you pump for? I don't have a lot of time so I normally only pump for 10mins or so!?

Plus I don't have a lot of space to store my milk so I pump and dump my milk into one container. Will my milk spoil if I dump freshly pumped milk into milk that has been in the fridge for a few hours?

Thanks for any advice you have!

the recommendation is to pump as often as your LO feeds ... but I would say every 3 hours as a minimum. When I was working and pumping I would BF at about 7.30, then pump at 10, 1 and 4 before Bf'ing again at 6pm (I worked 9 - 5.30). In terms of length, i think 20mins is the usual advice, if you can manage longer then I would say to pump for 5 mins after the flow stops. It'll signal to your body that it needs to keep making milk.

It's not recommended to put "fresh" milk into milk that's already chilled because it can help bacteria to form .... but I think in reality we've all done it. I know I certainly have.

I was pumping every 3 hours at work, 9:45, 12:45, 3:45. I nursed right before leaving at 7:00 and when I got home, 6-6:15ish. I pumped for 15-20 mins each session. Sometimes I combined fresh pumped milk with already chilled milk.
