I was looking into becoming a lactation consultant. In order to get my certification I have to take accredited courses. There are only 4 schools in the US to choose from and none are close to me. If I were a healthcare professional it would be much easier for me to gain certification.

I had thought the same ... the clinical hours would be really hard for me to get too. LLL would be an easier place to start.

I've decided to get my doula certification instead and that way I can still counsel my clients regarding breastfeeding. Around here most of the lac jobs require you to be IBCLC.
