I noticed my milk smelled sour on Tuesday, and it was from Friday. I only noticed this one time before - and we noticed it because lo wouldn't take it both times.

I know the Medela guidelines say I think 4 - but I know until 8 days.

What do you do?

I think I kept milk in the fridge for up to a week and didn't notice any problems.

I've had it go both ways. Before I went back to work, I would keep milk for up to a week in the fridge before it woudl get used, and it hadnt' gone bad. But over the 4th of July weekend, my milk from Friday was sour when I went to use it on Teusday. I wonder if it was from the fridge being opened and closed a lot over the weekend and when we had our cookout. Right now I usually only have it in there for 1-3 days before it either gets used or frozen.

At the most a week, but it doesn't stay in there very long. What I pump at work goes into freezer bags for daycare, and I leave a bottle for DH to feed her in the morning.

I started freezing my night and morning pump so that I can use up what is in the fridge - I'm also going to freeze my friday stash, and he can have anythign I express on the weekend Monday while I'm at work, along with some frozen.

With frozen, you take it out, put it in hot water - does it defrost fast then? In the past when i've used frozen, I have taken it out the night before, to be used that day - but if it doesn't get used, I don't want to have to toss it.

Depending on how far ahead I thought about getting my frozen milk out... I either let it thaw in the fridge or put it into a bowl of water to thaw. For even faster, I'd run warm water over the bag.

i used to send mine to daycare frozen and they sat it in hot water to defrost. I was nervous and would never leave it in the fridge for more than a couple of days. I also kept it as far back as possible to try to keep a consistent temperature.
