Hi all! I'm a member of the Nov DDC, so obviously the time is coming quickly!!

I work full time but really want to BF for at least 6 months.

I am looking at pumps and can't decide what to go with. I've read and heard that Medela is definitely the best choice. I am trying to decide between the PIS or the Freestyle.

Anyone have experience with either or both? I'm thinking the Freestyle because of the portability and the battery pack. I'm thinking I'd probably spend a lot of money in batteries with the PIS. But I feel like the PIS is tried and true to work well.

Any suggestions?

welcome!

Will you have access to a power outlet? Both will plug into a wall which I think is the best way to run them usually.

I have a PISA and it worked just fine for me. When I was deciding I couldn't justify the $100 more for the Freestyle, it didn't seem to have enough to make it "worth" that much more, for me. But I do know many women who have a Freestyle love it.

ditto to erin re plugging in the PIS. I pumped at work so always had access to power. You can also get a converter for a cigarette lighter so if you want to be adventurous and pump while driving (yes it's been done by people on this board) it gives you another option.

I was perfectly happy with my PIS. Good luck choosing!

I've also got the PIS, and I plug in at work. I've used the car converter a couple times, though not while driving (yet)! I don't really know the differences between the two, but I've been more than happy with my PIS.

At Burlington they're only $50 difference, so that's what is making my decision so hard

I really have no idea where I'll be pumping. I'm a teacher and have a very short lunch break, and not other breaks throughout the day so it's really my only choice. My planning period is often filled with meetings and such so I wouldn't be able to rely on that.

I'd like to do it in my classroom, I can keep a refrigerator in there and have my lunch and everything nearby. However, I have a small window on my door, so I'm not sure if that'll work. I'd have a plug there obviously too. Our PE teacher offered up her supply closet but she's actually PG and due in January when I'll be returning to work! So not sure that'll work either.

I have the PIS and love it, but as others have said I have access to power at work and always plug it in. I don't have the car converter, and the few times I have pumped while DH is driving I used the batteries and it worked fine. If I was going to use it in the car often, I would probably get the converter though. I dont know much about the freestyle .. so no help there.
