I have an opportunity to go to Germany for a conference in September. It would be just me, so DH would be home with DS (3 years) and DD (6 months). We're both totally fine with that. The only issue is that I am breastfeeding and I assume I will still be then. So I will have to pump for 6 days. I am leaning toward skipping the conference because I am imagining pumping will be such a pain! Especially on the plane. (I pumped at work for about 9 months for DS so I have experience. I do not enjoy it.)
But I know once the conference time comes I'll really wish I were there.

What would you do?

This is such a frustrating issue. DH went to Europe when DD was 3 weeks and will again at 3 months. He can easily take off, but as the mommy there us so much more that goes into the decision.

I traveled to a conference with pump (and without babies) when they were 5 months old. I was only gone 4 days though, but I was pumping a ton at that point and brought home a whole cooler full of milk. It WAS truly a pain in the butt, but it is doable. I pumped in the restroom on one plane, in the bathroom at an airport, in the restroom on a tourbus, etc, etc.

If you really want to go to the conference (and I would JUMP at the chance to go to Germany .. I miss that place), then you can make it happen. I can certainly give you tips for traveling with pump and milk if you decide to go.
