Hi im from the August 2012 playroom. my son is now 2 months old and i have EBF him from the start. well now i have 2 jobs and still nursing him but i need to pump a lot. when should i? how often? i can pump at work i just dont know how often i should be doing it. i get 2-5 ounces each time i pump on average. just depends on the time of day. im a first time mom. i just dont know when i should be pumping. help!
When I started pumping at work, I was doing every 2.5 hours to get my boobs used to it. That meant I pumped 3 times during a normal work day, feeding my son right before I left for work, and immediately upon returning home. Eventually, I was able to space that out gradually, and went to only pumping 2x a day at work after a few months. In general, you should pump approximately as often as baby eats, maybe a bit sooner, just because sometimes you don't respond to the pump quite as well as the baby.
~Kasi~ Mommy to Sean Elliot and Taylor Joelle!
I pumped in the morning before work (either before or after feeding DD - she only BF'd one side), then at work I pumped at 9, 1215, and 330. Then I fed DD as soon as I got home. I will be doing this same schedule with DD2 when I go back to work.
BIG thank you to Jaidynsmum for my beautiful siggy!
