Tuesday night 11/4 I was watching the election and I started noticing my contractions were really close, so I started timing them. They were ranging from 3 to 8 min apart with an average of 5 min. After 3 hours I decided to call the doc because they weren't subsiding. The doc asked me to go into L&D to be monitored. They initally put me in the outpatient room and put me on the monitor. My doctor just happened to be at the hospital already because he had just delivered a baby so he came in and they decided to move me to a regular L&D room since as I had told them I was having regular contractions, lol. I had pre-term labor and was taken off of ther terbutaline technically on Monday, but I actually stopped it on Sunday (shhh don't tell). The medicine made me feel terrible. I had seen the doctor earlier that day for a normal doc appt and I had been on the monitor and the doc had checked my cervix at that point and I wasn't dialated. The doc decided to check me again once I was moved to the regular room and they found that I was starting to dialate and so I was in labor. So, the question became would he try and stop it, or would we go ahead and deliver. He decided to go ahead and deliver. I had been contracting for weeks at this point. I was a repeat c-section so I was preped for surgery. I was really nervous and it all happened so fast. From decision to deliver to time they pulled him out was only about 25 min. He was born 12:01am on 11/5. He cried right away when he was taken out and I was sooooo relieved. I was slightly worried about his lungs since he was only 36w and a boy. He got 8 and 9 on his apgar scores, so he is doing great. He was 7lb 13oz. My kids have all been big, so this wasn't really a huge suprise for me. I thought he felt big. He has a slight case of jaundice, but other than that he is doing really well. Once they had him out the doc found that he had a knot in his cord, which up to this point hadn't caused him any problems, but you never know and I believe it was fate that had him come out early. My doc seemed relieved that we had decided to deliver. This was by far my best section. I was up and around that same day. I am still really sore, but doing really well. My milk is in already. He lost quite a bit of weight and isn't the greatest nurser, but I am working on it. I will try and post pics when I get a chance.
