Okay so The baby and the toddler are sleeping.. DH is at work so here we go with the birth story.
I had started at 32 weeks having preterm contrax and was convinced this little one was going to come early. The doc went ahead and gave me steriod shots in prep. Lo and behold the contrax stop completely three days later.... go figure.
Again at 36 weeks with the contrax. So i start walking, DTD, anything I can think of cause I am just ready to be done at this point. My mom was convinced that I was goign to have a new years baby. But we managed to make it past new years eve. Then on new years day at around 6PM I start having serious contrax. Like I had to breath through them. I checked myself and at this point knew I was only a centimeter or so dialted but I was having some pain along my incision. I had a csection scheduled for the 8th but I just knew this one wasn't gonna wait so off to drop DD at a friends house and to the hospital we went.
Now I should add as a side note that this was interestign for a few reasons. One I had my DD at the same hospital with the same doctor which was pretty cool. Also My husband is AD Army so we are in Germany. Thus I delivered at a german catholic hospital. all the nurses are nuns, it's peaceful, quiet... really really wonderful.
So we get to the hospital and my doc is on holiday of course but his co worker is available so she tells the nurse to monitor me and if need be she'll come in. So onto the monitors. I was having contrax every ten minutes or so. They tried EVERYTHING UNDER TEH SUN to stop my contrax. Shots, suppositories, oil on my tummy. I labor all night (still no dialation) and now my contrax are four minutes apart. They decide that a few days early isn't going to hurt cause the baby is big and lookign healthy so off to surg prep. I get the catheter, which was truly the worst part of the entire thing, and they take me in. Now tihs is much different for me because with my DD #1 I was emergent and had to be put under cause my epidural didn't take. This one I got my spinal (SWEET RELIEF!!!) and my hubby is brought right in. The anethesiologist talked me through the whole process (he's a wonderful guy , had him for my first as well) and within minutes I heard Anabelle's cry. I was so relieved I started crying. They held her up and all I could think was HOLY CRAP SHE"S HUGE. My DD was only 5 lbs and a few ounces, Ms. Anabelle was over 6 lbs. And that was three weeks early!!! They weighed her and let DH cut her cord, then it was off to nursery for them to get washed up while I was finished. Within twenty minutes I was wheeled into recovery and got to nurse my little one. Then withint twenty minutes we were taken to our PP room and hubby and i got some sleep while DD napped.
I was up and around the next day with some help, and asked to be released two days after surgery which the doc did reluctantly, it was the same with #1
Overall it was WONDERFUL! I couldn't have asked for a better experience. I had some complications but not related to the c section as much as the early birht. My body didn't realize that I wasn't prego after the surgery and formed another mucus plug LOl> Thus no post partum bleeding and the blood clotted in my uteurus. A fwe days after it came unlodged and i had to return to the hospital with some pretty painful contrax as the clots passed. They kept me over night with pitocin drip to help the passing but after that everything was peachy! The baby is nursing beautifully and her sister adores her.
She slept for almost five hours last night from 10 to 3 and then from 3 to 6 which was WONDERFUL and I am so happy to have both my girls.
Hubby and i have decided we are done with two... I started the pill already LOL! And he's considering a vasectomy but being a wuss about it!
For those that didn't see it already here is the link to my myspace where I posted all the pics. Post partum pics are coming when Im brave enough...
