My borther is paying for my neices dresses as our wedding gift, which I am really glad of, however if they are too expensive for them, I will offer to go halves

I am. I only have two bridesmaids...so it shouldn't be *that* bad. Also, one just had a baby and the other is 14 (my sister), so I just don't feel right asking them to pay $100+ for a dress.

One of my family members *might* be paying for part of of the costs, so we'll see how much I actually end up paying.

I might have to pay for it, but I'm only having one - my sister.

My bridesmaids have all offered to pay for their own dresses which is a HUGE relief for me! I am so thankful they are able to do that!

Well for my wedding my mom made all of the dresses even mine so they didn't have to pay for them.

This time I'm not having any Just my DD as a flower girl probably.

My bridesmaids paid for their own... but I let them pick their own dresses...

I told them they had to be black, and that they fad to run them by me... but other than that... they could pick whatever they wanted... so they each picked something that they could wear again.

You can see them here:

My mom made my bridesmaid's dresses and my daughter's flower girl dresses. So they didn't have to pay for them.

Here is an example of my bridesmaid's dresses, my MOH and sister with my DS

My bridesmaids will be paying for their own. I only have two and one is 18 and living at home so I know her parents will help. The other has slightly complained about the price and I feel awkward about it but I dont know what to do about it. We are paying for LOTS of stuff for our bridesmaids so I sort of figure this is one thing they can do, its just a part of being in a wedding in my opinion.

I agree, any wedding I've ever heard about the bridesmaid's pay for their own dress. If they can't afford it they should decline being in the wedding party, unless you really want them, and then help them out. I was a bridesmaid and I had to pay $200 for my dress, its just part of being a bridesmaid.

The only time I really dont appreciate that... is when brides pick obscenely expensive dresses and accessories without thinking about the ladies that have to pay for them

LOL if i had to pay for my girls dresses i would've been broke...i had 10 bridesmaids (including the maid of honor). I did try to keep the cost down, i searched forever for their dresses. By chance the place where i got my dress had a dress that fit perfectly with what i was lookin for so they got a discount which was nice.

I kind of feel bad because the dresses for my bridesmaids are $139 but I also told them they could choose their own shoes/jewelry and I'm paying for hairstyles. And I fully expect to pay that amount if not more for their wedding.

No I didn't. I sat down with each one and talked about thier budget and we went together and picked out dresses from Dillards for around $50 each.

Thats really not so bad... I had a friend who was in her cousins wedding and her cousin picked out the ugliest $350 dresses you have ever seen... Not to mention shoes and these super gaudy necklaces.

AND she wanted to do a destination bachlorette party to Vegas...

THAT is so wrong
