Hey Ashley!

I use to be really active here, but not so much anymore! I am not currently planning a wedding, but have experience with the stress of doing so, thought that didn't end well for all the time I put into it!

So, how are your plans going?

so far so good. the female side of my wedding party is chosen, DF just has to choose his groomsmen (basically ask them if they are willing/able to stand for him in another country if we pay for airfare). My cousin and I were both in tears when I asked her to be my maid of honor (matron really, she got married over the weekend). If DF only comes up wth a best man, my entire side of the party will be my cousins (2 years old, 8.5 years old and 26 years old) which seems perfect. I even have the flower girl and jr bridesmaid dress picked out.

No idea bout a date yet though. rofl. hopefully will be able to choose that in January when DF finds out when his job (he's contractual based) will end next summer. I'm guessing first week of august. Then I just need to book a place, find a justice of the peace (we will already be legally married in the US, the one back home is to make our wedding legal in his home state and satisfy my family and my desire for a big wedding) and start shipping stuff home so I don't have to pay duties on it at the border. LOL

Wow, seems you have lots already covered and things are working out wonderfully! Aww, that's so sweet that you were both in tears! I'm glad to see that you have got most of the stuff worked out and all! Dress picking was my favorite part of it all, though I changed my mind at least a dozen times! I bet you're getting excited! I know I was! Are both you and your fiance from the US?

No. I'm Canadian, so we're eloping soon, and will do our big wedding next summer when his job ends for a few months. I haven't been home since April, and won't get home until Feb/March so I will take my mom and maid of honor and go dress trying on, and then order it from the US or one similar.

Oh okay, I thought you were from Canada! Oh wow, that is a long time to be away from home! Well, I know Davidsbridal.com has some really beautiful dresses and some for really great prices

Yup, and there's a david's bridal store in halifax, an hour from my mom's place. We'll be doing tux's through them too, trying them on here, and ordering them there. Thankfully all the colors and such are the same

I've settled on two so far, I might choose a third. Fuchsia for the bridesmaid (she'll be almost 9) and Turquoise for the men's vests and ties. I may or may not put the flower girl in fuchsia, I think they'd be able to reuse the dress easier if I didn't put her in white. Then I'd put her and her sister in identical dresses.

I'm giving my maid of honor a say in her color. She may not like the bright fuchsia, so I'd be willing to let her choose another pink shade, or go with the guy's turquoise. I'm going to be carrying Stargazer Lily's, hence my choice of color. LOL. The guys will have a white or turquoise flower (as will df) and the bridesmaids will hopefully have smaller versions of mine. Not planning on doing the traditional flower girl basket, will take a foam ball and stick fake flowers all over it and add a ribbon for her, so that way she matches us.

Been working on Cake Ideas. I'm thinking white fondant, 3 tiers with the top tier being raised up on pedestals (I'll buy them from Joanne's or Michaels) and Lily's and a white flower among the columns. And then Pink (since that's my main color choice) ribbon around the layers. We browsed some cake toppers today, found a few cute and funny ones. Or I'll go with something pretty and metal.

DF can't believe I've got this much planned out, but I told him the more I have planned the less work I have to do when I start paying for it all. LOL.

That all sounds amazing Ashley! Indeed, it is always better to have it all planned out before you have to start paying! The colors sounds amazing! I absolutely LOVE Stargazer Lily's ! The flowers and cake were the hardest part for me! I changed my mind a dozen times!
