What sort of vows are you doing? religious? civil? writing your own?

ours were civil, and amazing. I'm trying to see if I can find a copy of them online.

Here was part of it, the Apache Wedding Blessing

Now you feel no rain, for each of you will be a shelter to the other.
Now you feel no cold, for each of you will be warmth to the other.
Now there is no loneliness,
for each of you will be a companion to the other.
You are two bodies, but there is only one life before you and one home.
When evening falls, look up and you will be there for each other.
Take each other's hand and turn together
To look at the road you've traveled to reach this -
the hour of your happiness.
It stretches behind you, even as the future lies ahead.
A long and winding road, whose every turn means discovery,
Old holes, new laughter, shared fears.
Your adventure as just begun.

they gave us a full copy of our vows and I hope our justice of the peace next year will use the same ones. We also used "forever" instead of "i do" dh sprung that on me during the ceremony and I about melted into the ground.

We won't be writing our own but I have no idea what they will be?? We still have to meet with our Pastor a few times and that will be discussed then. We are going to be emotional enough that day and if we wrote our own I don't know if either of us would be able to make it through them and be understood. There's so much more feeling and emotion when it's what you wrote and while that is great and I love it when people write their own, I also want to be able to talk and not be totally sobbing the entire ceremony! lol

LOL well we had tears for the first one, so I'm hoping we don't have any for the second. But we also laughed and giggled through the first one since it had poured earlier in the day and it was dripping in huge drops down over our faces.

I have no idea what our's will be... we're having a hard time deciding who to have officiate even. DF's uncle is a Methodist pastor, but we don't want an uber religious ceremony. We may end up using a justice of the peace and writing our own...

It's actually the biggest problem for the whole wedding for us...

Love this!!

We had just a regular civil ceremony the first time, which was probably good that we didn't have to say much because it was pretty emotional. When we had our bigger wedding/vow renewal a few months later, we both wrote our own. Neither one of us cried, but we also both kept it short and sweet or I would've lost it. lol.

Well it's good to see that i'm not the only one who would cry if i wrote and read my own vows!! We just went with whatever the church used.

I've given DH the option to write ours for the next one, but he'd like to reuse/tweak and reuse the one we said in New Orleans.

DH wanted to do that, but he LOVED the vows we did in NOLA, so he wants to just redo them. LOL. Can't argue with him, he gets very little opinion on the bigger wedding
