Will you be doing either a Unity Candle or a Unity Sand service?

DH remembers doing the candle one with his ex, and isn't opposed to doing it again if I want. But I think I'd like to do the sand! They're so pretty (I'd do the fuchsia and black father than the turquoise because I think it would make it look too girly. We'd add turquoise if DSS wanted to take part.) and the wording behind some of them are so pretty!

and a vow example:

(Name) and (Name), you have just sealed your relationship by giving and receiving of rings and the exchange of a kiss, and this covenant is a relationship pledge between two people who agree that they will commit themselves to one another throughout their lives The most beautiful example of this partnership is the marriage relationship. You have committed here today to share the rest of our lives with each other. Today, this relationship is symbolized through the pouring of these two individual containers of sand one, representing you (Bride name) and all that you were, all that you are, and all that you will ever be, and the other representing you, (Groom name), and all that you were and all that you are, and all that you will ever be. As these two containers f sand are poured into the third container, the individual containers of sand will no longer exist, but will be joined together as one. Just as these grains of sand can never be separated and poured again into the individual containers, so will your marriage be.

My sister did the unity sand at her wedding. Her DH has two kids from a previous marriage, so they all had different colors of sand to put in. It was really cool and got a lot of great feedback since it is still a fairly unknown idea. We didn't do either, but I think it's a great, fun idea!

I've got it growing on DH he was skeptical, but he does think they'd make a pretty decoration.
What he doesn't like is I'm insisting on leaving some sand in each of our vases because it's supposed to signify that we're individuals, he doesn't see why we can't just give all of ourselves to the other...

I like both ideas, we won't be using them, but we will be having a "rose ceremony" I love the words of it and the fact it can be used in hard times later on

I like the sand idea... maybe I'll ask DF what he thinks about it. We haven't even been able to decide on an officiant or ceremony yet...

We are using the one we had in New Orleans. I'll type up a full copy in 2 weeks and post it, it was really really lovely and he gets in the car and turns to me afterwards and says "I told you that you could have free reign on the big wedding, but I want those vows. No discussion." LOL. He rarely asserts himself, so I let him get his way. Lucky for him I loved them too
