my minister lives in the dark ages so there's no way in HELL I'm getting married in my church. Which breaks my heart, but even my Grandmother agrees it's not worth the hassle.

So we're doing it at our reception hall.

We had our first marriage (where we actually got married) in Dh's parents' backyard. lol. It was fun with a short little reception. I honestly didn't want it though and wanted to just do it really fast in the court house or head to Vegas. But my MIL begged us to do it there. We did our actual wedding with vow renewal ceremony in this gorgeous venue here in town. I wanted it to be outside, but it rained so we had to move everything indoors. It was cool though

We aren't religious so we never considered a church as an option.

We got married in the local church when we lived up in NY. It is a tradition for my family to do all events like weddings and baptisms there.

Us too... but the new minister is just too much to handle. Not only does he have a stutter so services take 2x as long so he can concentrate on his words (our christmas service was 2hrs before he came... we had to make him cut out most of it after the first year... 4hrs on xmas eve in church was tooo much), but he upholds rules that haven't been used in over 30 years. No photography in the church, you have to go over his head to the bishop to get a wedding photographer in the there. No own vows, everything from the book must be said word for word, and he doesn't allow civil vows.

DH will allow me to baptize a baby and he will say the words and lie no problem. But for a wedding? No, he wants to be able to say the words from his heart and not be thinking "this is bully poopie".

We are getting married in my local church where I have always gone and am a member. I am not a religious person and don't attend church regularly at all but I have always wanted to be married there.
