Hello, I figured I would start posting here with you guys as I am planning my wedding in may. I've been posting on Jm for 3+ yrs now but I'm not sure I know anyone from this board as I havent been able to post much in last yr or so. Anyways lol, I'm Melissa (30), engaged to Thomas (22), we have been together for 3.5 yrs, and have 2 boys ages 2 and 1 together, and I have 3 children from a previous marraige ages 11,8, and 5. So about this wedding. I am trying to plan it, but know I'm over looking stuff, as it's kinda my first time. My first one was in my parents yard, I was 7 months pregnant, wore a sun dress, and was really really self consious so I didn't want anyone at all looking at me. Not too mention my dress was purple and the jp that married us (female ) wore a bright red dress.. clashed soo bad..lol
So now here I am getting married again but I am much more happy with myself and I want that wedding every girl dreams of but on a very very small budget. We are getting married by a justice of the peace, who has been wonderful, we chose what he wears, he has helped me customize our ceremony to what I want, and we are actually doing it in his yard because it is a beautiful field like yard surrounded by trees on the outer edge and has a wishing well in it. (Think like in the movie snow white ) So before we chose this location we were going to go with a cherry blossom theme because my fav color is pink and the meaning is great. But after seeing the location we decided to go with a more magical/fairytale theme. The dress has been a horrible decision making process for me. I swear I've tried at least 150 on, looked at a million websites, and just couldn't fine that one that was exactly like I wanted. So I had a company make me one, and I'm sooo nervous to see it (should be here next week). What if I don't like it after all, what if it doesnt fit...all this worrys keep going through my head lol

Welcome Melissa! Congrats on your upcoming wedding!
I'm worried about the dress aspect myself. i won't get to buy it for several months and I've not even tried a single one on. I have to do the whole thing myself since I'm 2000 miles from my family and don't have any friends in the area that I'll be in when I'm looking for dresses.
We eloped in Sept and got married in New Orleans under trees that are several hundred years old. The park was under water after Katrina, but it was so perfect for us! Of course, it had to go and POUR on our wedding day! Stopped just in time for the ceremony, which was just us and two friends.

Now about your wedding fears, its totally normal to worry about things and how they will turn out...the way i see it is, we wouldn't be female if we didn't' worry about stuff like that! So your dress should be arriving by next week? Even if your dress didn't arrive for another 3 weeks and your wedding is in May, i think you still have plenty of time to have them fix anything you are unhappy with. They'll tell you "ohh we need time blah blah blah" Well let me tell you, my dress was ordered in the wrong color, i ordered white and it arrived in ivory (like a really yellow looking ivory) and they had to send it back with only a little over a month till my wedding. I had custom stuff done to it so they had to re-make the entire dress with the correct fabric, and it came in barely a week away from the date of my wedding. They scheduled my fittings for monday, tuesday and wednesday, and my wedding was on saturday. They put everything aside and worked on my dress, stayed late and made sure everything was perfect. My point? They can work with a small time frame, they just don't want to I'm sure everything will turn out wonderful with your dress, but if there's something that you want changed don't worry!!
