Do you go to them? not usually
Throw them? not usually but Xander being an October baby we are having a Halloween themed party
Go all out with decorations and food? this year we are a little bit
What's the best Halloween Party idea you've ever seen or done? a relative makes their garage a haunted one and then you go thru it and they try to scare you
Do you go to them? I've been to a handful of them but not since becoming a parent. We've been focused on making the holiday about the kids for the last 5 years.
Throw them? We are going to start having a costume party the weekend after Halloween most years for my DS2's birthday. His birthday is on November 12th, but I want to celebrate it as far away from Thanksgiving as possible. That way people won't be too busy to make it to the party. I think a costume party a week after Halloween will be nice for people so they get TWO uses out of their costumes (and don't feel as guilty about spending money on them).
Go all out with decorations and food? Somewhere in the middle. I don't want to spend too much money, but I like to set the mood for the party with the decorations and food. We won't be having Halloween themed birthday parties for my son, but something related. This year we're doing a Little Monster theme. Next year, I'm thinking Little Pumpkin theme.
What's the best Halloween Party idea you've ever seen or done? Well, my sister's block has ToTing for little kids and then a "Halloween party" at the park at the end of the block. There is a costume contest. Stories by the campire. A bake sale. They decorate the park as a haunted house. They have various kid character mascots come in to see the kids. And then, around the corner, a handful of people have turned a backyard into a "haunted house". As you walk through, 6-8 groups of people or families have created their own little scary theme. There is a graveyard with creepy crawlies in one. A maniac doctor chopping up bodies in the back of a garage for another. And, so forth. It is so, so cool!
