Bush Signs Bill To Take All Newborns’ DNA

I thought this might be of interest to some, especially since it's going to create more UC'ers.

forgive me, i only skimmed the article...if i'm not mistaken, they will use the pku newborn screening to obtain this, right? so what are our options if we want the test but not the theft of our children's dna?!

Thank goodness both of my girls are here already. I'm not planning on more, but if I ever do have a third, s/he will absolutely not be having the PKU.

From the research I've done, you don't have an option. They aren't even required to tell you that they are doing it, AND they are already doing this in all 50 states! (I could be wrong, but that's what I've gathered.)

This seriously makes me want to cry, I really wanted the PKU test and now I'm too afraid to have it done because I refuse to let the government play with my baby's genetic makeup like that! OMG.

But they aren't worried about the crazy women who birth at home and want less government control.

I too have the PKU's for my babies.

I posted this a few days ago on the L&D board. I just think that is crazy.

I too posted about it in elsewhere, and nobody replied to it, I was surprised!

You have the right to refuse ANYTHING medical for yourself or your children. They may not have to tell you that they are doing it, but if you refuse that it be done, they can not do it. You CAN have the PKU done without the DNA theft, but you must put it in writing, just as you would put a Birth Plan in writing, sign it and give it to the Dr. Nurse, anyone in charge of touching your child in any way. This is NOT required!! Just like vaccines, they say it is required, but it is not, they just don't tell you the whole story. REFUSE, REFUSE, REFUSE, and REFUSE SOME MORE!!!

*lurker here*

When did this start? My youngest is 21months, did they get his DNA? Not to sound stupid, I know you said that he just signed it but, I just want to make sure.

Thanks
