Is this done during home births? My next midwife appointment is on June 3rd. I remember doing it with my first pregnancy (OB) and I plan on asking her when I see her next.
I'm just curious. She doesn't do any lab work at all and I am only going once for lab work. Speaking of, i still need to set up my meeting with the doctor. So, I'm just curious if I need to expect it this time around or not. I still plan on asking my midwife though

They can, but whether it's routine will depend on the MW. Ours was only concerned about checking iron because apparently it's not possible to even have a home birth if your iron is below a certain point.
My midwife gave me the option of having a glucose test...I opted for it since I'm overweight and was concerned about GD, although I was negative with my older DD. She had me eat a biscuit with jelly and OJ for breakfast, then did a finger stick - it was SO not the ordeal that it was at the gyno the first time. And it was negative again, thank goodness.
I think most midwives will give you the option.
