Somebody remind me WHY I watch *anything* baby related on Discovery Health. I recorded a show that sounded interesting, "I Didn't Know I Was Pregnant". I always thought that was a freaky/neat thing, how some women can give birth without ever knowing they were expecting.

But of course, they have their doctor "experts" doing commentary. And the woman who had her baby at home in her bathroom floor was "endangering the life of both mother and child" by not being in a hospital. *gags* The only thing that looked dangerous to me was the dad-to-be who, despite their having one child already, wanted to PUSH THE BABY'S HEAD BACK IN.

Oh, for the days when baby shows didn't tick me off!

see, this is why i don't have cable! i can pretend it's for the good of the children all i want, but deep down, it's because i am drawn to those shows like a moth to flame, and they are so bad for my blood pressure! not to mention my tv...my mom barred me from ever watching a baby story ever again when i started throwing stuff at her tv while i was pregnant with selene, haha.
seriously, dad wanted to push the baby's head back in?! so which a**hat doctor took issue with that one? none of them? yeah, that's what i thought.

Hi! I'm a lurker here but I HAD to comment on this post!! ITA with the OP!!!!! That show made me so angry!! Everytime the narrator would say something along the lines of "should've been in a hospital" my husband would look at me out of the corner of his eyes, just waiting for my rant! I wanted to yell at all of them that that baby and mom were perfectly fine even though she delivered ***gasp*** at home and without a doctor!!! I was LMAO when that guy wanted to push the baby back in, though...sorry, charlie! That ship has sailed!

And has anyone else noticed that "A Baby Story" has had NOTHING but c-sections lately???? Where are the waterbirths? The homebirths? The midwives...even just unmedicated hospital births?!! No wonder this country thinks major surgery is the only way to have a baby!

Yes, when your eyes are opened you start getting ticked off.

Glad I'm not the only one that gets irritated at the TV, at least!

I completely agree. Shows like those are ridiculous and degrading.

The worst is "Deliver Me". The three women doctors scare and lie to women in order to cut them. One of the docs told a woman pitocin contractions were no different than the ones your body has naturally.

I refused to even watch "Deliver Me". The idea was intriguing, but I figured there would be crap like that - and I just knew I'd sit there fuming the whole time.
