how do i find a midwife? I did a google search for homebirth midwives in NY... and called a couple in my area... another idea is to ask around at LLL or local doulas
how much does it cost? this varies from state to state. Mine cost $5000 (this included all prenatal and postpartum care), also my insurance will be covering a portion.
does that include the supplies? I had to purchase a $50 birthkit
how do you get the birth certificate? my midwives filled out a form, I brought it to the county clerk's office, and we were issued one immediately.
do you have to go to the hospital to have you and the baby checked? nope, we didn't.
how do i find a midwife? I did a search online to find my home birth midwife.
how much does it cost? My midwife charges between 1,500 - 2,100. We are paying 1,850.
does that include the supplies? It includes prenatal, labor, delivery and postnatal. I have to purchase our birth supplies which will run us $50-$100
how do you get the birth certificate? I believe my midwife fills out all the paperwork and we go file it ourselves.
do you have to go to the hospital to have you and the baby checked? We don't have too. My midwife will do that for us. She comes a few days after birth to check on him and I then at our 6 week appointment.
