My beautiful girl, Isabella, is here! Only 5 day late.
I woke up on Sunday, July 20th at 5:30 am with contractions. Didn't really think much of it because I had already had this happen a few times in the last week. By 7 am I realized they weren't going away so I got out of bed. I then proceeded to have inconsistent contractions for what felt like forever. I did manage to lay down and sleep between contractions for about 4 hours in the middle of the day. The contractions were fairly mild, definitely manageable without problem and erratically spaced (anywhere from 2 minutes apart to 6 minutes apart.) They didn't get any stronger or harder but they didn't stop either. I ended up having about 12 hours of labor that was early/latent. Finally at 5 pm they started getting harder. At 6 pm I got up to use the bathroom and felt a gurgle and a gush and figured that my water broke. That's when things got going! The contractions I started having at this point were by far the worst contractions I have ever had in all three of my labors (they were all drug free.) Miss Isabella was born at home at 7:04 pm after only an hour of active labor! She weighed 8 pounds 10 ounces and was 20 inches long.
There's a lot more detail in there but I'm still working on a more detailed birth story. I loved having a home birth! My midwife was amazing and let me and my body go at my own pace. One of my main concerns with delivery was tearing because I had an episiotomy with my first and then the scar tore really badly with my second. This time I had no tearing! This was my most painful labor, as far as the active labor went but I'm having the best postpartum that I have ever had!
I forgot how small and precious they are as newborns! Isabella is such a beautiful wonderful baby! She's a fantastic nurser already (which was another concern of mine.) I'm so happy to have her here!
