I started having "old blood", slimy discharge this AM. Hoping this is not a precursor to a miscarriage. I've never had one before so I don't really know the signs to look for. I still have my all day morning sickness, which I assume is a good sign?! I'm a tad bit concerned. I just sent my ND an email. I know there's nothing she can do. I might have her order bloodwork to do some HCG counts on a couple days this week to see if the numbers are rising as they should...just to confirm or ease my mind. I had bloody discharge with my last pregnancy in the first tri but it was fresh, red blood. I was concerned about that as well...had the bloodwork done and all was normal. So...is old blood OK or something to be concerned about? What do y'all think?

The world today is upside down because there is so very little love in the home, and in family life. We have no time for each other. Everybody is in such a terrible rush, and so anxious…and in the home begins the disruption of the peace of the world.

How are you doing now? I've always heard that old blood is nothing to worry about, but I'm sure I'd be worried too. Update us when you can!

Thanks for checking up on me. It has subsided and I still have mega "morning" sickness so I think all is well. My midwife/ND replied to an email I sent her regarding the discharge. Here's her quote: "No, it is fairly normal - only worry if picks up with cramping. The nausea is a good sign of well-established placenta!"

Old blood is very common. Having sex, the blood vessels break, the blood sits and then eventally comes out as brownish can even be old blood. Glad you're not concerned anymore I had this with Kailey but not with this one. I guess my cervix has toughened up with Kailey. LOL!
