I was wondering if anyone has ever had a home birth with twins?

I know it's a stretch, but I was just wanting to explore this. Any info or stories would be helpful and very much appreciated

I know it is possible. I can't be much help since I've only had singles and this is my first home birth. But it is possible. Have you found a home birth midwife yet and spoken to her?

Good luck and congratulations on your pregnancy

I would call around and ask the local midwives. Congrats on your twins! How exciting!

The homebirth MW's I use have done twin homebirths. Of course that doesn't do you any good unless you live in Metro Detroit. Call around, I am sure you could find someone. Good luck!!

The midwives I used also do twin homebirths as well as breech births. Definitely look into it, talking with a midwife in your area should provide you with some great information. Keep us updated!

My mid wife does home births and she's never done a twin birth! I'd hate to "fire" her . I don't know if I should keep calling around and get more answers?

Thank you ALL so much

If I were in your situation, I'd probably look into a midwife who had experience in the type of birth I was having, whether it be twins, breech, whatever. Thats just my personal opinion though. Good luck!

I agree. Maybe you can call around and set up an interview with another midwife. I like Twinkle would feel more comfortable with a midwife who had experience in the type of birth I was having. Good luck

Oh, absolutely - just go to Youtube and type in twins home birth. I would feel more comfortable having a midwife that has delivered twins at home too, though - if you don't want to 'fire' yours, does she maybe know another midwife that she could ask for help? Kind of a mentor to be present at your birth with her?

Keep us posted, and congrats on your twins on the way!

Congrats!! Definitely go to youtube and watch-- there are some amazing videos of twin homebirths!! If your midwife doesn't feel comfortable with a twin birth, I would definitely look around!! Good luck!

Definitely google some twin homebirth stories. It can be done. I'm about 95% sure we would UC twins if we ever had them. Otherwise I'd find a mw who was comfortable with the idea. I agree with the suggestion of seeing if there is another mw who would mentor your mw on the situation...I'd definitely want to keep her involved (although I'm sure paying two mw's would totally suck...maybe she'd be willing to accept the learning lesson for the fee...I know I would if I were a mw!) because the more mw's that we get educated and experienced on the twin hb's the better! I hope you come to a confident decision!!
