I had to find a doctor to get Zofran. They were telling me they don't feel comfortable with me having a HBAC because of rupturing. I don't believe them, I think I have a 0.5% chance of rupturing. Then tonight I read in a book @ the book store that it is dangerous because babies die so frequently from home birth. That isn't true. It doesn't say how or why. People don't say why they think home birth is unsafe because I think it is safer than the hospital. They can't find anything but they just say it. I don't believe that babies have an increase risk dying because they aren't getting drugs in their system that slow HR down. Ridiculous.

It's a shame that books and doctors offices are so far behind the times when it comes to homebirth. Sigh, at least you know you're right

Let me know if you EVER find ANYTHING that says WHY home births are more dangerous. I can't think of any reason it would be (assuming you qualified to be a home birth---not high risk). Heck my nursing experiences is why I AM having a home birth!

UUUUUGGGGH! I hate that, you know people are just ignorant on the subject and they have no idea what they're talking about at all.

If you had had like 5 c sections I would say it would probably be dangerous, but after one c section the risk is really small!

I have already have had one successful HBAC, I am now going to have a HBA2C. People just like to spout off at the mouth, they have nothing better to say and since homebirth isn't mainstream its easy to "go against" it. Its safe, and probably safer than a hospital for those of us who want successful Vbac's.

I believe having an HBAC at home is safer then having a VBAC at the hospital. I'm having an HBAC this November and my son was born in January of 06 by c-section. I'll be almost 3 years post partum from my surgery that I've healed perfectly fine. I have no worries at all.

It bugs me that doctors like Urbanmomma said, just spout off at the mouth like that.

Home birth is a direct conflict of interest for the birth industry - of course they're going to tell everyone that home birth is sooooo dangerous. Especially a home birth after a surgery, when they could so easily profit off of a subsequent surgery.

Ugh, they make me SO mad sometimes. Thank goodness there are those who care enough to do their homework and learn better!
