I was wondering, if anyone has soothing/relaxing music that they know of or used during labor?? I am pretty sure I would like some type of relaxing music playing, but I haven't found anything that I think would work perfectly. (There's a few cd's on amazon that may work, but there's no links to listen to the songs, I'd rather listen before buying )

Any ideas, recommendations would be much appreciated!
Thanks ladies!!

With my son, I listened to Jack Johnson, John Mayer and Foo Fighters. Those were the three that relaxed me the most at the time.

Thanks, I think I may have found something on iTunes...I want something more New Age and instrumental as that type of music is really the only genre that will relax me

I like listening to stuff I know the words too. That way when I need to distract myself or focus on something I can listen to the music and sing along

That's smart with the words, but music with words honestly doesn't relax and keep me calm like a lot of the new age instrumental stuff does. I think i'll make a cd with some songs with lyrics just incase the other doesn't help or soemthing.

I had no desire to listen to music in labor. It's funny, because you might think you will want to and then have it totally get you out of your labor groove...or you might have music that puts you in it. Ya never know, until ya KNOW. Ha ha. Good luck!

I always have a playlist just in case. With DS I listened to "The Girl from Impanama" by Nat King Cole over and over again. With DD I listened to whatever was on the Disney Channel lol.

Good luck finding something that's just right for you!

I didn't have music during my labor - since it was the middle of the night, it just didn't feel right - I wanted quiet. So I'm no help.

I would recommend a couple different playlists-i see many moms change their minds on what they want to listen to while in labor---so have some variety.
I love Josh Groban for my recommendation.

I personally don't like Josh Groban. I think that's what I'll be working on, thinking of different songs/artists/music I want for different cds.

I agree...have a couple different playlists. You just never know. Labor does such odd things to your psyche!

I'm thinking about putting together a playlist with Enya and Enigma. But, what I have wanted for 8 years, I cannot find!! When I was pregnant with my dd, I was watching a documentary on PBS about these (I think Thai) woman that chanted to their husbands at night. The whole village of woman chanted and you could hear them all over the village. It pulled me in, but I have never ever been able to find it. Anyone else know? lol
