Have any of you hired a doula? Either for your upcoming birth or a previous birth?

No, I would have if my midwife wasn't such a great support system and knew exactly what our wishes were. Her student was also great. I had 2 midwives and 1 student midwife at my birth and felt that, they were just as great.

I do think that if anyone can afford it, they should get a doula. I wish I had one for my first sons birth, maybe I wouldn't have this scar on my tummy.

I had a doula with my last birth. She was amazing My Midwife and her assistant were fantastic but it was nice to have someone there who made sure I had everything I needed and DH never had to leave my side because she took care of things he otherwise would have done.

I will for my next one. Doulas are an FSA expense for those who can't afford it out of pocket (so are mw). I'm doing it because I'm also vbac and I want someone who can be there for me if we do a hospital transfer.
