Which (if any) birthing classes do you recommend? I'm starting Hypnobirthing next week and am excited about it. What other classes/what other methods did you find useful and which ones should I forget about??

I would say any classes promoting natural childbirth. I am not a big fan, as a general rule, of a style of class.

What is available in your area?

I agree on finding classes geared towards natural birth. I was going to go to a home birth lamaze class but I wasn't able to because the time of the class was during my husbands work hours and we only had one vehicle at the time.

What about also looking into the bradley method? I read a book on it (which is what the class by me was offering, the bradley method) because I couldn't make it to the class.

I remember during my first pregnancy, the classes we attended were more natural birth leaning but i noticed that many of the parents there were already set on epidurals, inducing and c-sections. I'd stay away from any classes being offered through a hospital.

I took hypnobirthing and I loved it.

Classes I recommend looking into would be hypnobirthing, hypnobabies, and bradley. There are also classes based on birthing to music that I know have worked well for some.

I guess I'm kinda off the wall, but I always thought it I knew myself best and didn't want someone else teaching me how to manage the pain during childbirth. I think as women we know whats best for our self, I would just go with the flow. Be confident in your body.

I'm doing hypnobabies---its teaching me to get rid of the negative thoughts I have left over from being an L&D nurse and helping me to trust my body after multiple failed pregnancies.....the teaching how to deal with pain--is a side thought for me using this program. I use it more to release some fears....and its working WONDERFULLY so far!
