I'm at home (Raleigh, NC) visiting my Dad for a few days and today I went by his work to see his assistant. She has been with him for about 15 years, so she has seen both my sister and I grow up and I love her to death. She has two kids (boy 7 girl 5) and is the one giving my Dad all his "grandpa" tips, hehe.
When we were talking, she asked me how I was feeling, etc and she said "Have you given any thought to where you will give birth? At home?". And I was like....WOW. That is the first person to EVER ask me about having a home birth. She talked about how she wished she could have had a home birth (had to have c-sections with both due to complications and now she is done having kids). I told her I would love to do it and my Dad was like "What the heck, in a birthing tub...this is too much for me..." (poor guy).
I just found it pretty awesome that she suggested it, I didn't have to awkwardly mention that we are looking into a home birth and deal with the weird comments.
That is awesome! I hope to experience that with our next pregnancy and 2nd planned home birth. Since our HBAC was successful I hope others are nicer the next time around haha. One can hope but that was definitely awesome!
Thats awesome. I always love being around and talking to other pro-homebirth supporters... even if they aren't people that would choose to have a home birth, at least they are open to others making that choice.
THats GREAT!!!! DH had some thing close to that the month before we did a homebirth...his BOSS and a couple other co-workers (all male engineer-nerds here) ALL did home births and his boss even delivered his 3rd because the Dr. didn't make it. So troy fit right in for once! HAHAHA
I'm glad that its starting to be less shocking for people....is SUCH a great feeling to find others out there
