I saw it... I was really upset that they focused so much on the negative and how they totally blamed the midwife for the death of the baby. They didn't say wether or not the mother had stated that she felt there was something wrong. The thing is that home birthing isn't a "designer" birth or a "peril filled" thing normally. The big thing that the parents of the infant who was born sleeping missed is that this could've happened in a HOSPITAL!

I'm a little perturbed by the way that the Today Show railed against home births.

I can't watch it now, but will definitely take a look tomorrow. I'm saddened that these parents lost their baby... but I doubt it was because they chose a homebirth... lots of thoughts and prayers to them for their baby.

It never does make it to the news. Well I've never heard on the news of a baby dying in the hospital. It's sad both ways, very very sad and I feel for that family.

However, I'm very upset with how the Today Show portrayed home births. I'm sorry, I do not birth at home because I see it as a spa treatment, nor do I think it's TRENDY!

I birthed at home because I felt the hospital was unsafe for us being low risk. If I could have punched them through my monitor, I would have haha.

I don't know. I can't portray my thoughts nicely haha. It just makes me sad that we rarely ever get any sort of good media, it's always bad or if we get some sort of good media it's always twisted to have the under tone of home births = bad, hospital births = best option ever.
