When does your m/w typically see you for your first appointment?

I went in around 5-6 weeks for an initial visit, just to do paperwork and go over preliminaries. First "real" appointment was around 12 weeks. She likes to wait until then unless there are problems so that you are most likely to hear the HB

My midwife is the same way.. you can have a consult before hand, but the first prenatal appointment isn't till later.

We're meeting with her this week (week five of pregnancy) but just to ask questions and see if she will be the right fit for us. If all goes well, I'm expecting around eleven or twelve weeks to be the first real visit. I can't imagine what she could do during a visit before that.
