I found out a few months ago that the Family doctor I found for my son (and my family) does homebirths! The whole group does them. Also they do HBACs, multiples and breech births at home! I was wondering how common this is? Do you ladies have Dr willing to do homebirths in your area?

I don't know of any in this area, but the book I'm reading "Journey Into Motherhood" had a birth story where the doctors deliver at home births. I think it's called Home First or something like that.

I haven't heard of any docs around here that will do it. I know that my family practice doc basically said that if I need stitching that he could come here and stitch me but that's about it.

I had 2 Homebirths in Chigago IL with HomeFirst. My Dr was incredible! Sadly they are not very common since the malpractice insurance they are required to have is insanely high.

If you don't mind sharing...who is the Dr you use?
We use Dr. Schattauer for our Family practioner now, I have a midwife also who does home births (hillary Kieser)

Nope, not a one. You can barely get a VBAC and can't get a vaginal breech even in the hospitals. Thank God for midwives.

My Homebirth Dr's name was Dr Mark Zumhagen. Awesome man, awesome Dr. I trusted him completely!

Now we are in Canada and my last baby was born at home with a great midwife paid for by the government.

They are pretty much the only group of MD's in the country doing homebirths. They are family physicians, not OB's, which is great since you can continue to see them for all your health needs.

I love Dr. S and especially Dr. Z. You will have a wonderful homebirth experience with them no matter which doctor attends your birth. Dr.Z also rents birthing tubs, which I highly recommend!

That's awesome! There are no Doctors who do homebirth here, they are those who support it, but they live homebirthing up to the Midwives.
