For those that chose to do waterbirths at home... did you run out of hot water? What did your birth team do to help alleviate any problems?

I think we will. We have an old water heater and one of the elements is burned out. DH hasn't replaced it though because it's the bottom one and he'd have to drain the whole heater to do it. So I have one big soup pot and I already asked my mom to bring hers, so we can heat water on the stove and have it ready.

Thankfully I didn't. I managed to space enough time between warm ups that my heater was able to regenerate more hot water.

We ran out of hot water. DH and my midwife boiled water on the stove. It still wasn't enough though. This time we've moved, and we have a tankless water heater, so no worries.... we can't run out this time!!!

no we never ran out. We filled the tub with straight hot water until it was out, then used cold water to bring the temperature down where it needed to be and by then it was deep enough. After that every half hour or so we'd put in more hot water (it had a chance to reheat by then) to keep the temp right in the pool.

We didn't run out. I birthed in our own garden tub and I think I got in the tub a little after 8 and she was born 47 minutes later so I don't even remember them heating it up after it was originally filled but they might have.
