Did you use a doula for your homebirth?

I plan on having 2, sorta. I recently found one of my best friends from high school on facebook. We hadn't talked since graduation 10 years ago. She is now a L&D nurse, and aspiring midwife, doula student, CBE student, etc.. She lives about an hour away from me and actually has taken some of the CBE classes my midwives offer. Anyways, we recently met up for coffee a couple months back and she was commenting on how she has never seen a woman give birth in any position but their feet in stirrups. I told her she could come to my birth and I could guarantee I wouldn't be delivering like that. She's going to use my birth as one of her doula certification births. I'm excited to give her an opportunity to see a birth outside of the hospital.

My other "doula" is my best friend. She as present at my last home birth and a great support for me. She's had 3 natural childbirths, the last one being at home.

I don't plan to at this point. Unless my midwife has a doula that works with her then maybe.

We will be using one. We've known her forever and she's helped her sisters and SIL's as a doula... Can't wait till she's here with us during the birth!

I will be using the same doula I had for my hospital birth with DS1. We kept in touch since she's also the LLL in our area and our relationship has really grown since the birth of my DS1, I couldn't imagine not having her be a part of this with DH, DS and I.

If I had to do another hospital delivery, I'd def. want a doula with me. Otherwise I'm more the "leave me alone and let me have this baby" type.

I had one with my last birth, but it was at a hospital. Not having one this time. Figure the midwife and her assistant should be enough

We didn't for our first home birth but did for our second and plan to use the same Doula again this time. Since we have a lot of young children it's really helpful to have that extra set of hands to help with the kids or be with me if the kids need DH for something.

We won't be using one. My Midwife and her assistant are both certified Doula's, and that's kind of what they'll be to me in our birth. DH and I are going to do things on our own and they are going to be our Doula's and basically watch for any signs of a complication/problem.

With my first, I chose not to have my doula there, which was dumb. With my second, she didn't make it because the birth was so quick. This time I might have two-- since I'm a student doula, both my backup doula and the doula who did my training may come, but we're leaving it as an informal thing. If I want them there, and the timing works out for them, they'll come. If not, I'll still have dh, my midwife, her assistant, and hopefully my mom there.
