I know a few, there are four or five unassisted people in the area and countless assisted people. Personally though, I know two

Lots! One of my friends even delivered twins at home. I know at least 10 women who have given birth at home.

I have a few friends IRL who gave birth at home. All of the homebirth midwives I've met had their babies at home. Nobody in my family, though, unless you go back a couple generations. They all think I'm nuts.

My best friend had a homebirth with the midwives I used, about 7 months after I did. I actually met her here on JM, and when we realized we lived close to eachother, we've been friends ever since... she was even my support person at Kate's birth, and she'll be here for my next birth as well.

There is also a Meetup group for other Homebirthing mama's here in my area. I joined when I was pregnant with Kate, and trying to find a midwife. I don't attend a lot of functions anymore, but have in the past and met about 6-8 other moms that have had homebirths.

My paternal grandmother had 1 unassisted homebirth (not planned) since her last baby came so quickly.

My maternal grandmother had 2 unassisteds (not planned), one was my mom (the eldest) and then the youngest child as well.

My MIL had all of her kids at home with some unassisted and some assisted with just village women (back in Korea, no real midwives).

None of my friends though

We have some family who have had homebirths. My grandma had her last 2 kids at home, unplanned. She's a stubborn person and at the last minute decided not to go to the hospital.

We took a childbirth class geared toward couples planning homebirths. We kept in touch so I know a few.
