I know for hospital birthed babies, a lot of moms put a great deal of thought into the "going home" outfit... but for babies that are birthed at home... do you put any special thought into their first outfit?

We do pick a first outfit but I don't put tons of thought into it. I recently got a sewing machine and I am hoping to make the baby's first outfit. We aren't finding out the gender so I've been searching for a good gender neutral fabric.

I actually let my midwife choose his first outfit I hadn't put any thought in it and told her if she wanted she could go in and choose whatever she liked. He wore a stripped onesie and a comfy sleeper

We have a couple gowns picked out but we didn't put too much thought into them.

We didn't put a whole lot of thought into the "first outfit" either, but it was cute none the less! LOL

I do because the first time we take Baby out in public is to take him/her to church to be baptized. We have a baptismal gown that we've used for all the children (except Robert who had to be baptized in the hospital) so we choose an outfit to go underneath. It is one of the few things we buy new for each baby.

Depends on what time baby is born. If it's during the day then probably a homebirth onsie, if it's at night, then probably pajamas. Hunter's first outfit was a "baby's first 4th of July" since he was born on July 2nd.

Probably white shirt and swaddle blanket no matter what the gender. I'm putting the same blanket and hat that DS wore in the hospital on this babe, I'll probably keep the tradition going if we have more kids. I ended up hating DS's first outfit, it was size NB but still huge on him, and the color wasn't great in pictures either.

Where did you get the homebirth onsie?

We just got some nice warm fleece jammies, and they were very cute. Ended up being her coming home outfit anyway.

I have a few outfits picked out and will decide after baby is born which one to put on her. It'll depend if it is nighttime or daytime.

I'm actually going to my midwife's house to give birth and we don't know what we are having, so we'll just bring a few onesies, sleepers, and gowns. Nothing too exciting.

I made a little shirt that says "Hi. I'm new here." This one will probably end up in that, but I guess I hadn't thought too much about it.

Since the weather can be weird here the time that she will be born, I've put some thought into it. Late May/early June can still be chilly, but it's not unusual for it to be quite warm as well. I found a cute short sleeve dress that is comfy jersey knit material, and it had matching pants/leggings and a little sweater. I have a bonnet to match it too. It will also be the outfit she wears to first meet the other members of the family
