Hi ladies I'm not new here. I took a break from JM and now I'm back. I'm Jackie, mom to Kailey and Nola (who was born at home in March of 09).

I'm looking for any information you have on unassisted homebirths so I can prepare myself for number 3!!! I don't know if I'm preggo or not But we are going to do a freebirth because I'm right across from the hospital (cool huh lol).

Any information on safety, procedures blah blah blah anything!

TIA

Welcome back to Justmommies! I'm so glad you have rejoined us. I don't have any specific info on unassisted homebirth since I've never had one. But I do know we have at least two members that have birthed unassisted, so I hope they chime in and can help you.

For our sixth child we planned a UC and lost her at 36 weeks but still delivered her at home unassisted. For our 7th child we planned a mw-attended homebirth but ended up unassisted (mw arrived about 30 minutes late). We're planning to have the mw around this time, but do it ourselves, and we're prepared to go completely unassisted if it turns out that way.

Is there specific info you are looking for? A quick google search for "unassisted birth" will turn up more pages than you can possibly find time to read.

I have done that search, but I'm not getting any solid information. I have found a lot of personal blogs and message boards on it, but I'm wanting some nitty gritty information to read as well, and it's hard to find sine UC births are so rare.

And it's glad to be back to JM

I definitely suggest reading anything you can get your hands on from Laura Shanley!

Im having an assisted home birth but will keep and eye out for you because I think unassisted is totally awesome (I would never attempt due to having c-sections before)

I'm planning on having an unassisted birth and I'm due in March. I think Bornfree! Laura Shanley's Unassisted Childbirth Page is a great site. Also researching emergency childbirth situations or reading midwife handbooks helps too.

Here's some books I plan on buying:

Amazon.com: Emergency Childbirth Manual: Live Birth Inc.: Books

Amazon.com: Unassisted Homebirth: An Act of Love (9780966106602): Lynn M. Griesemer: Books

Amazon.com: Unassisted Childbirth (9780897893770): Laura Kaplan Shanley: Books
