Just wondering when you did/will schedule your baby's first pedi appt after birth? Lily was born in a hospital so a pedi checked her before we left and then the next day they have a "newborn club" that you go to and they re-check her and you can see an LC.

My midwives told me that most of their clients take the baby in within the first 2 weeks, but they recommend the first 6 days to get the heel prick test (required in CA no matter where you birth unless you have religious reasons against it). So, I was just wondering what everyone else does. I think I'm a little confused because the hospital gave us a temporary insurance card for Lily and this time I'm going to have to call and explain we had a home birth, etc.

my midwife did all the newborn exams including the screening test thingy for the first two weeks. She had her first pedi appt at 2 weeks old.

Our midwife will do all the newborn exams. We were asked to bring baby in 10-14 days after birth for our family doc.

Usually around 2 weeks old. My midwife does follow up care for 6 weeks post birth but our Ped usually wants to see them just to meet them before then

Zane had to see the pedi within 72 hours of birth (believe it's a CA law to be able to appy for birth certificate or something like that) He wasn't even 48 hours old when we went, because 72 hours would have been Sat. and they obviously were closed.
