I've been lurking for a while. My husband and I are expecting baby #2 and we're planning to do our best to stay at home. I would have loved to have tried a home birth with our son but there were too many things against us, no midwives around, we lived too far from the hospital in case of emergency and the doctors had me labeled as high risk. Anyway I wasn't very happy with the way I was treated at the hospital. It wasn't terribly horrible but I wish things could have been different. Maybe I'll share the story of that one day. So. A group of midwives started a practice in our town this summer. I've met 3 out of 4 of them and I love them. They are happy to do home birth and if I test + for gbs like I did with ds they've assured me they can give antibiotics at home. We have also moved since our ds was born so now we're only a few mins away from the hospital... Just in case. I'm excited but also nervous. I'm hoping that since I'll most likely be more comfortable at home that it will be easier to deal with the pain but if that's not the case I hope to stay home long enough that the thought of getting in a car to go to the hospital is a worse thought than anything else. Make sense?
