Yesterday I had my 25 week appt. My doula came with me, along with Lily and Julia. Baby is measuring perfectly, BP and urine are fine. We were able to hear the baby on the fetoscope, which was nice! We did listen on the doppler as well so the girls could here it.
I did talk to them a bit about my waterbirth concerns. For those that don't know, I did have a waterbirth with Kate, and she had some breathing problems following birth which required my m/w's attention. DH busied himself with cleaning up the tub (even though it could have waited). He equates the homebirth and waterbirth to not being able to sit and hold Kate and whatnot. I know its just how he dealt with his concerns for Kate's health... but because of this experience he kinda doesn't want to deal with the tub this time.... and for me I can't imagine NOT giving birth in water. My midwives said that they would do the clean up for us this time, and if there are any problems with this baby, all exams will be done on Paul's lap. I'm really happy with this plan and I'm sure its going to make a huge difference in Paul's experience.
Wow, that is awesome that they are willing to work with you and Paul on this issue! I think that it is great that they will do the exams on Paul's lap, and it's the perfect solution to easing his fears and feelings about it!
