Expecting mommies, what's on your to do list to prepare for the baby and/or the birth?

My list isn't long, but I'm starting to get antsy about it:
Get old sheets and waterproof cover for the bed
get heating pad
figure out food
move furniture in bedroom to fit the cradle (don't worry, not me!)
get cradle mattress (my dad said he'd make it)
get Jonah's toys out of the cradle (we're currently using it as a toy box)
organize old baby clothes and diapers

I just found out that my mom is coming the week of my due date and staying for two wees, so I'm really relieved by that. She'll just love getting to spend extra time with Jonah and I know he'll be getting some extra love from her. I also know that anything that doesn't get done on the list, it won't matter with her around because she always comes through with a plan. She's the master of "make-do" and she is also good at reminding me what is essential and what really doesn't matter (for example, do Jonah's toys really need to be in a toy bin... we could just dump them on the floor if we need the cradle before the bin gets here- I ordered it online)

Our list is long as we'll need everything for this new baby, as all our baby things are in storage in the US unfortunately I'm excited to go shopping and pick out stuff but I'm bummed to be spending $ on things that we technically have but can't get to oh well!!

Need to buy::
Bassinet
Clothes
Blankets
double stroller
swing
bouncer
all the other lil baby necessities- toys, pacifier, bottles, bibs, burp clothes, etc
order some birth supplies- mesh panties, OB pads, cord care, sitz bath herbs, chux pads, plastic sheets, etc

don't have room in our tiny freezer to cook and freeze meals after birth so will probably be take out.

I have some supplies to get to complete the birth kit, like chux pads and post partum pads. I also need to get some breastfeeding items like a couple nursing bras and some lanolin cream and pads. I think we have everything for the baby already, clothes are all washed and the nursery is pretty much set. We just moved Kate out of the crib and put the crib in the nursery (not that baby will sleep in the crib, but its still a safe place to put the baby down away from big sisters). I do want to clean the bedroom a bit more and we do have to figure out where the tub will go.

At first I didn't think it was very much, but then I started making this list and I feel overwhelmed

-Order the first outfit and a few other gender neutral things like hats
- Figure out where baby is going to sleep for naps (crib vs. pack and play) - either will be next to the bed
- Clean and organize our bedroom
- Buy small diaper covers and some more prefold diapers
- Paint the master bath
- Buy and install sinks in master bath (renovation that has been ongoing since September!)
- Figure out what is needed to complete our birth kit - we have a lot of things so I think I can piece together the rest without ordering the whole kit
-Rearrange car seats to accommodate second rear facing seat

I'm trying to budget for the bathroom stuff out of each check and man, I just realized we only have 4 left before baby is due!

oh geeze. add "rearranging carseats" to my list too! I also forgot that I have to finish making the birth announcement cards so that I can just print out the birth info and send them out.

Alison, I was thinking the same thing yesterday at Babies R Us about the paychecks. I was thinking about putting a double stroller on layaway and paying for it a little out of each pay period. Then I realized we only have one more before the actual due date, but I think she'll come right around when we have another. I really think she's coming the first week of June. Everything is just measuring that way. I still want to have everything ready just in case though- she seems stubborn so she might come earlier just to prove me wrong!

I've been paying our birth photographer with a bit from each of our paychecks as well... and now its getting down to the line and I still have a balance with her, and only two more checks coming. LOL

I mostly just need to get the nursery done, which is barely started, but not even CLOSE to finished lol. I am also seriously considering getting an arms reach cosleeper. I am set on clothes and blankets and such.

I need to talk to my midwife about what I need for the birth. I believe she supplies pretty much everything so I shouldn't need much.

Thankfully, we have all the stuff that we need. We should probably organize it though so that it's all in one easy to get too place.

LOTS!...like...everything! lol! But we still have time!

Order our birth kit, and purchase extra chux pads, etc..
Make cloth pads
Rearrange the bedroom to accommodate either a crib, or cradle, or both (DS still sleeps in bed with us)
Buy some more NB sized cloths (gender neutral or girl...we have lots of boys)
Go to thrift stores for cheep sheet sets
Purchase tarps and/or water proof mattress pads
Rearrange/add car seats
Prepare extra meals for the freezer (SO glad I did this last time!)
try to keep house clean

I'm sure there is a bunch of other stuff I'm not thinking about right now...

If I had responded when this was originally posted my list would have been pretty long. But this last week DH has gone CRAZY with cleaning and organzing. A few days ago the whole house was clean but he still managed to find thing to clean or organize! He even bought a dresser to use as a changing table in our room, since this baby doesn't officially have her own room. We are planning a remodel this summer that will make our basement DH's office and his current office will become her room.

So now we are just waiting on baby! My MIL has her cleaning lady coming this Friday to deep clean our house which I am thrilled about! After that baby can come any time! =)
