what are some good questions to ask? I have an idea. My last pregnancy i was with perinatology most of the time (unnecessarily if you ask me). First because my little brother was born with a congenital heart defect, so they wanted to pay close attention to heart development, second is because of the GD. hoping neither of these things play a factor in getting my home birth. i also have a history of epilepsy, though its been a long time since ive had one...
It went so awesome! She said she isnt worried about the Epilipsy at all, she has me started on the breweres diet for diabetes now and we will start monitoring my sugars at about 26 weeks. She said that if i were to be but on insilin again that might make homebirth a bit trickier, but that wont happen! The are sending to perinatology next week (because of my brother congenital heart defect, and to get a due date since i dont have a LMP!) Im so stoaked! my insurance only cover a certin percentage of this....i think like 40 % which isnt a big deal to me. She sat with me for an hour! What OB would do that! They are super stoaked that im a Doula/massage therapist and want to throw me clients! im so happy!!!!
Thank you Mom2*Lauryn*Jacob* for my gorgeous siggie!

Good luck with your appt! hope you like her!!
Def. ask about what you mentioned.
I'd ask what/if any does she test during pregnancy
- if she has a back up OB she works with/recommends just incase you need an u/s, etc
-what if someone else is in labor when i am? do you have a backup midwife?
-do you accompany to hospital incase of emergency transport?
-how often are prenatal visits? and post partum ones?
-how long she's been a midwife/how many births she's attended?
-does she have experience with breech, just incase?
-what's her transport rate?
-what does she do for over due babies? anything?
-how past due can you go?
-what supplies does she bring to birth and what do you need to get?
-do you have experience with shoulder dystocia, in case?
-what prenatal testing do you do/recommend if any?
-do you have experience with hemhorrage, incase, how do you handle?
-do you carry oxygen?
-who cleans the mess?
-how often do you do internal checks?
-what would be cause to transport to hospital?
