I made DH set up the birth tub tonight. He wasn't happy about it! You know, it's not like he has to do a whole lot to get ready for this baby, and I've been asking him since Tuesday to do it. He doesn't think it's necessary to do a trial run.
But I'm glad he did. Because the adapter we had to hook the hose to the sink did not fit. We had to go to Lowe's and get a different one. Then, he put the hose straight from outside into the tub to fill it. Well when the water started filling the tub, all the mud and nastiness on the hose filled the tub too. So now we know to wash the first couple yards of hose. We also know that if we use all hot water to fill it up halfway, and then both the hot and cold to finish filling it, it's the perfect temperature and it takes an hour to fill.
Anyone else have a hard time convincing DH to do a trial run? He was complaining even with his mother AND the midwife backing me up on this.

Thank You, Pattyandthemoos, for my beautiful siggy!
I can not suggest doing a trial run enough. We didn't do one, we had planned on it before hand, but baby came at 37 weeks... didn't even have the stinking tub, good thing my midwife had one in her car. LOL
Anyways, Dh spent all of my labor pretty much trying to set the darn thing up. Took over an hour to inflate it, he ran out two times to the store trying to find the adapter for the hose, etc. It was awful. But in the end it was ready for me about 45 minutes before baby was born.
