vaccinations, breastfeeding, nutrition, chemicals in our food/toys/cooking products/body products etc....
Momma to Emma, Elzie, Gretchen, Olive, and Rogan
We aren't to give a baby milk, berries, or peanut butter. We are to introduce new foods one at a time. But it's OK to inject several viruses, bacteria, aluminum, formaldehyde, phenoxyethanol, animal serum, mercury, squalene and more into an 8 week old? I don't think so.
In order to be healthy it is an unfortunate fact that people must be allowed the opportunity to be ill. I trust my body and those of my children to work correctly against the relatively benign diseases they vax for, and do not trust the ingredients in the vaccinations.
Our choice to not vax isn't based in ignorance, poverty, conspiracy theory and rumor. It's research, common sense, fact and evidence based..something the medical community has largely forgot about.
I think I am the most passionate about informed decision making as well. I know my choices and the way my family does things isn't the best for everyone. I respect that completely. I just wish more people researched their options and choices.
Nutrition (with Real/Traditional/SOLE (Sustainable, Organic, Local, Ethical) foods!)
BIRTH (Doula & midwifery)
AP (Breastfeeding/ExtBFing, baby wearing, co-sleeping, cloth diapering, non-vaccinating, etc..)
Use of chemicals in our food/cleaning products/toys/body products/etc..
Education, and informed decision making for all of the above!
Informed decision making - I don't care so much what choices a woman makes as long as it's not just because so-and-so said so
Cloth diapering, recycling, land conservation, car seat safety, politics (although I'm not nearly as up to date on this as I was before getting married and having kids), women's right to NIP, and lots of other stuff.
My siggies says most of it. At the end of the day I wish more people would just take the initiative to make INFORMED decisions instead of blindly trusting doctors/their mothers/mil's/friends/neighbors/etc. READ, question, learn, decide. If more people spent as much time researching birthing and parenting practices as they did picking out nursery decorations....*soapbox*
"Unborn children should be welcomed in life and protected in law." George W. Bush
My beliefs are very similar to Ginni. While i may not agree with some others choices, its not my choice to make. As long as its done with an educated decision. I feel educating yourself on your choices and beliefs are the most important.
I have strong feelings about breastfeeding, co-sleeping, baby wearing and such more but I think educating yourself falls to #1
I agree with all that said INFORMED DECISION MAKING!
Personally, I don't vaccinate, I cloth AND sposie diaper, I breastfeed AND IN PUBLIC!!!, I believe in Homebirthing (although I have never done it), I have circ'd 2 boys and not circ'd 1 (the 2 that were circ'd were UNinformed decisions!!).
I will respect the decisions that others make IF they, themselves, make them. I am SICK of new mothers going "My poor baby has a fever now, because he had his shots earlier, poor thing cried and cried, I feel so bad for him, I wish he didn't have to go through that." WELL THEN, YOU SHOULD HAVE DONE YOUR RESEARCH! He DIDN'T HAVE to "go through that" if you made an INFORMED DECISION. HOWEVER, if that same parent were to say "My poor baby has a fever from the shots. I know this was a side effect and I feel bad that he has the fever, but I have done my research and feel that the benefits from the vaxes were better than the side effects." Then , go for it, but just do your research!
