Did your m/w check your cervix for dilation during labor? Did you request the checks or decline them?

My MW checked me I believe 3 times during labor. Once when she first got there- was only 3-4cm, then again about 5 hours later was 7cm and was allowed to get into the pool and then again in the pool I believe after my water broke and was 10cm and had a cervical lip she helped push out of the way during contrax while I pushed. I don't think I want more checks than 3.

(I did have some cervical checks during pregnancy- once at 21w when I lost my mucus plug to make sure my cervix was closed, another at I think 36w when we thought my water broke but cervix closed and again at 41w when she stripped and stretched me from 0cm to 1.5cm to encourage labor)

she checked a few times, once when she got there, then 2 or 3 more times before the baby was born. Every time though she asked if it was okay and I had the option to decline.

She checked me the day before we induced and a few times the day of the induction. She attempted to strip my membranes the day of--when she first arrived. I was not "strippable" because my membranes were already separated from the wall of my uterus. We induced with CO and when the second dose didn't kick in after a few hours we did the cohoshes. No labor in sight. Just a bunch of piddly BH. I got checked after I got off the loo (sorry tmi) because I had a few contractions that I *thought* might be the start of labor, but they fizzled out. The next time I was checked because I was bleeding. It was from my cervix; it was very swollen. I wasn't 'in' labor at the time. A few minutes after she checked me he was born.

Most of the afternoon and evening was spent waiting on labor to start and boy was it boring. Very boring and uneventful-- until, that is, my uterus expelled him.

With Paul's birth I had 4 checks... one around 9am and I was about 2cm. Another around 2pm when I was about 3..... again around 4 when I was 7 and then about 15 minutes before he was born, and I was fully dilated.

During my first birth I was checked only once (when she got to my house) and I was 9cm.

During my second birth, I was checked twice. When she got to my house I was 6cm. The second time was when I felt the urge to push. I was 9cm then.

At both of my births the Midwives suggested checking me but I could of easily declined.

2 checks - I think she would have done 3 but when I was ready to push there was no going near me! So one when she arrived, one 5 hours later (that check broke my water - totally accidentally - she apologized) and baby was born 2 hours after that. I could have refused any of them - but I didn't mind.
I also check my own throughout pregnancy and the beginning of labour cause I felt like it

Thank you Kiliki for my first beautiful Siggie!

I was checked 3 times during labor. Once when she got there, once during transition and then once right after when I was fully dialated. I had her check me at some of my last visits but they were pointless since she couldn't reach my cervix. If my water had been broken she wouldn't have checked me.

With Megan, I was only checked twice.. With Emily, about four times..

This go around I'm not sure how often she'll check, I'm sure once she arrives to see how I'm doing.. Then maybe once more to see if I'm fully dilated or not when I feel pressure.. But I wouldn't want more then 2-3 checks.

I asked for one check as I was coming into transition and I was 7cm. That was my only check, it was about 6 hours into labor.
